Cedar Breaks National Monument

At over ten thousand feet, Cedar Breaks is a half-mile-deep amphitheater of red, orange, and purple rock, ringed by ancient bristlecone pines and, in summer, fields of alpine wildflowers. The high elevation keeps it cool and crisp while the desert below is baking — a completely different world an hour and a half away.
